• Canadian player Jonathan Duhamel wins 2010 WSOP Main Event

Jonathan Duhamel, a 23-year-old player from Quebec, has secured a spot in the record books after becoming the first Canadian player to win the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event, outlasting a field of 7,319 entrants who entered the second-largest WSOP Main Event in history and taking home his first title and the $8.9 million in prize money.

Duhamel only need 90 minutes and 43 hands to beat out Florida native John Racener, who ended up collecting $5,545,955 in prize money. Duhamel entered the final heads up play holding a six-to-one chip advantage (188.95 million vs Racener's 30.65 million) over his opponent, and used his huge advantage to keep Racener from winning any big pots.

In the final hand, Duhamel moved all in with As-Jh. Racener called off the last of his chips with the Kd-8d. After the board ran out 9d-4d-4c-6c-5c, giving Duhamel the 2010 Main event Title and his first WSOP gold bracelet.

Duhamel celebrated his victory with his parents and friends, and was cheered by dozens of Canadian fans gathered at the Penn & Teller Theater to show support. Several minutes later, Duhamel was congratulated in person by last year's champion and youngest Main Event winner ever Joe Cada. World Series of Poker Tournament director Jack Effel made the official announcement and Duhamel was handed the bracelet.

"Thank you to everybody for being here, it's a dream come true. I don't know what to think, I don't know what to say," Duhamel said.

Duhamel is the sixth non-American to ever win the WSOP Main Event in the last 20 years. Other non American Champs are Mansour Matloubi (UK, 1990), Noel Furlong (Ireland , 1999), Carlos Mortensen (Spain, 2001), Joe Hachem (Australia, 2005), and Peter Eastgate (Denmark, 2008).
