• 21-Year-Old Poker Pro Shawn Busse wins 2010 WSOP Event #47

    21-Year-Old New York native Shawn Busse joined the group of first time WSOP gold-bracelet winners after outlasting a field of 3,128 in the 2010 WSOP Event #47 ($1000 No-Limit Hold’em). The poker pro from Massapequa, NY collected $485,791 in his first cash at the WSOP. Prior to playing at the 2010 WSOP, Busse cashed in seven other major tournaments, including the WSOP Circuit event held at Caesars Palace Las Vegas

    The runner up was Canadian poker pro Owen Crowe, who collected $300,494 in his eighth WSOP in the money finish. Crowe’s most notable previous achievement was a 15th-place finish in the 2008 WSOP Main Event championship.

    The tournament was played from June 26 to July 1, 2010 and registered a field of 3,128 entries with a total prize pool of $2,815,200 distributed among the top 324 finishers.

    The final table began at 2:30 pm and ended at 11:30 pm. This was the most international final table of any event played this year, and included players from six different nations: Canada (Owen Crowe), China (Chuan Shi , Denmark (Allan Baekke , Finland (Pekka Ikonen), Russia (Ilya Andreev), and the United States (Shawn Busse, Wenlong Jin, Jason Mann and Adam White).

    When heads-up play began, Shawn Busse entered the final heads up holding a comfortable 5-to-1 chip lead over Owen Crowe a`nd took him only about 15 minutes to conquer the title. The final hand of the tournament came when a short-stacked Crowe moved all-in dark with 5h-3h and Busse called with Ah-4s. The final board came 7s-7c-3d-6h-6s, Busse his first World Series of Poker victory with two pair (7's and 6's) and a higher Kicker (Ace).
