• WSOP Update: 2010 Main Event field down to 547 players

    The 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event resumed yesterday noon with 1,203 players looking to make the money in Day 4. The money bubble was hit at 9:30 pm, when Tim McDonald, a 50 year-old professional fisherman from Kentucky, was sent to the rail in 748th place. McDonald, who finished one spot out of the money, didn't walked away empty handed. He received a free entry into the 2011 WSOP Main Event courtesy of the World Series of Poker.

    Once players were in the money, the action began moving quickly, with 175 players hitting the rail before Day 4 was officially over. By the end of the day, only 574 players from the original field of 1,203 entrants survived to Day 5. The day closed with Tony Dunst from Las Vegas leading the chip count with 1,546,000 in chips. Some pros will moving to Day 5 include Johnny Chan (1,159,000), Adam Levy (951,000), Alexander Kostritsyn (750,000), Praz Bansi (662,000), Scotty Nguyen (630,000) and Vanessa Selbst (435,000).

    Some notable players who fell short of the money include WSOP Europe main event champion Barry Shulman, Matt Savage, JJ Liu, Dewey Tomko, Kathy Liebert, Dave Sands, Annie Duke, Barry Greenstein, Adam Junglen, Erica Schoenberg and Robert Varkonyi.

    The 2010 WSOP Main Event will resume today at 12:00 pm Las Vegas time. Players will begin the action with one hour remaining in Level 17 (Ante's at 1,000 and Blinds at 3,000-6,000). Survivors are expected to play 4 levels, and finish play around 10:15 PM, halfway through level 21.
