The most notable elimination of the day was ten-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Johnny Chan, who got busted in 156th place after losing a decisive hand vs. Italian Pro Robert Pisano. Chan was also the last former WSOP Main Event Champion eliminated from the tournament.
Other players busted on Day 6 were Phil Galfond (141st place); Robert Mizrachi (116th place); the final female competitor, Breeze Zuckerman (121st place); Event #56 winner Tomer Berda (134th place) and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Matt Keikoan (196th place).
The Top 10 leaderboard changed eight times since play began at 12 noon. Day 7 closed with Danish pro Theo Jorgensen holding the chip lead at 9.3 million. Jorgensen won a WSOP bracelet in 2008 and the 2010 WPT Grand Prix de Paris and currently has more than $2 million in career tournament winnings. 29 year old professional poker player Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, who recently got his first bracelet at the first $50,000 Players Championship, is second in chips with 7.5 million after starting the day with under 2 million.
Other pros returning to play Day 7 include John Racener, Alexander Kostritsyn, William Thorson, Matt Affleck, Bryn Kenney, David Baker, Scott Clements, David Benyamine, Johnny Lodden, Tony Dunst, Hasan Habib, Peter Jetten and Jean-Robert Bellande.
The 2010 WSOP Main Event will resume today at 12:00 pm local time when the last 78 players return to the Amazon Room to battle it up for a sport into the the final 27 finalists. On Saturday, the field will be reduced to the final “November Nine." Then the tournament will take a three month break until the final table is played in November.
