The tournament officially began on Thursday, September 16th at 5 pm and ended on Sunday, September 19th at 3:10 am. The ₤5,000 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha tournament registered a total of 120 entries for a ₤600,000 prize pool paid to the top 18 finishers.
The victory gives Lisandro his 5th World Series of Poker gold bracelet and catapulted the Italian born pro to the 12th place on the all-time WSOP wins list, Lisandro shares this honor with Stu Ungar, Berry Johnston, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Allen Cunningham, Scotty Nguyen, Ted Forrest and Gary "Bones" Berland.
The event's runner up was 22-year-old poker pro from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Joseph Serock, who took home £98,262 (approximately $165,000 USD) in his second runner-up finish at the WSOP. Sherock, who also won $341,783 in a Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em event at the 40th Annual WSOP, has an impressive $650,000 in WSOP winnings and ten in-the-money finishes in only two years playing professionally.
The star studded final table featured four former WSOP gold bracelet winners, including Jeff Madsen and British pros Chris Bjorin and Willie Tann, who also made their second consecutive final table at the 2010 WSOP Europe. Other players seated at the final table were 2010 November Nine finalist John Racener, as well as professional poker player Felipe Ramos, Karl Mahrenholz, and Jeff Kimber.
The final hand of the tournament, Serock moved all in preflop and Lisandro made the call. Lisandro showed As-Qs-6s-2c vs Serock's Ks-7s-6h-5h. The board ran Jh-9s-8d-2d-Js, giving Lizandro a flush (spades) and his fifth WSOP tournament title.
The official WSOPE gold bracelet ceremony will take place at Casino at the Empire on Tuesday, September 21st at 5 pm, just prior to the start of the Heads-Up championship.
