After watching Boardwalk Empire I got a little curious about this guy.
Arnold Rothstein was a famous gambler from New York City who lived from 1882 to 1928. He reportedly hung around characters like Meyer Lansky and Lucky Luciano. Rothstein is credited with helping turn crime from a bunch of street thugs into an organized enterprise.
The rumor was that Rothstein was the man behind the infamous Black Sox Scandal. Aside from the Black Sox Scandal, he reportedly died because of a high stakes poker game.
Supposedly he played in a high stakes poker game for 3 days and ended up stuck $320,000. Of course, Rothstein didn't pay because he said the game was fixed. He was shot at the Park Central Hotel and died from his wound.
