Mike “The Mouth” Matusow has three World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. He also won the 2005 Tournament of Champions and has banked over $6.5 million in career tournament earnings. His book Mike Matusow: Check-Raising the Devil will be released in May 2009.

Mike Matusow was born on November 30 th 1969 in Los Angeles , California . When he was ten he moved with his family to Las Vegas . At the age of eighteen a friend introduced Mike to video poker. He won $85 and immediately became addicted to the game. He started working as a dealer at Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas . At the table he was studying players and their techniques turning them into a more lucrative use at the other side of the tables. He started playing in tournaments that he regularly won. Since then he was successful both in live games as well as playing online. He gained the nickname “The Mouth” because of the nonstop flow of trash talk with which he peppers every event. This characteristic of his is also one of the biggest reasons why some people like to watch him play.

In his private life Matusow has battled drug problems, depression and following the broadcast of the 2004 WSOP Main Event on ESPN, even spent six months in jail over a past drug related arrest.

Mike is considered to be the best Omaha poker player in the world. He earned his first WSOP bracelet in 1999 and his second in 2002. Mike is also an emotional guy as seen when he cried after being eliminated from the 2004 tournament.

Mike “The Mouth” Matusow won his third bracelet in the 2008 WSOP, he won in the $5000 No Limit 2-7 Draw with rebuys event taking out Jeff Lisandro heads up for the $537,862 first prize.

Alot of people don't like Mike, but I for one love him. I find his comments to be funny, unlike Helmuth where it's essentially a 5 year old having a temper tantrum.
