    Poker on a cruise ship

We booked a Caribbean cruise in December. They have a full service casino. Has anyone played pier against people on a cruise? Should I expect them to be good?

Never been on a cruise before, but I've heard the rake structure is just awful. There were a few guys at the casino at my table and they were telling me how on a $50 pot it was standard to see a $20 rake... lol. Now I know it'll vary based on each cruise ship, but still just a rule of thumb

I'd probably just gamble it on blackjack and roulette if I were you. But if the rake is actually normal then I would definitely play the pokers

Oh good call. I hadn't even thought about the rake. If it's unreasonable I'll just go with blackjack.

I'm going on a cruise in about 2 weeks aboard the Carnival Cruise Lines Fantasy ship. I know they run a $150 poker tournament and will get the rest of the details and report back once I return.

Thanks Ravens, yep it is . It's 5 nights and 6 days. All around the Caribbean. This will be my second cruise so I'm looking forward to eating good and sleeping a ton.

Your welcome. So do you have to travel far or do you board from somewhere close to DC?

We are boarding down in Charleston, South Carolina. So we're heading down a day early and exploring the city a little bit. I hear the food is excellent so we're going to try it out.
