foul carrots

I've been getting carrot sticks on the side instead of chips lately. However on occasion some of the carrot sticks will taste like cleaning supplies. Why is that?

Not sure, but I went to my local grocery store and purchased some crab legs and after I cooked them, they smelt like Windex or some sort of cleaning product with ammonia. I had ate a few before smelling the ammonia. I was furious and took the cooked and uncooked crab legs back to the store. They gave me a full refund, but when I purchase seafood from there I have to smell it first. LOL. X

Hmm wonder if the container they keep the carrots in give them the smell or taste, not cleaned all the way or rinsed?

I dont know but i wouldnt be eating them lol. Did you ever take them back or say anything to somebody from the store that you get them from?

I don't know about the carrots but that ammonia smell with seafood means it is way past it's prime. Sometimes you will even smell it with live crab which means the tank wasn't kept fresh enough and the crabs shells absorbed the ammonia excreted in the waste of other crabs. Pretty gross.

That's absolutely disgusting. Good thing Ravens took them back.

Well where I work there's a cafeteria and they have carrot sticks at the sandwich counter. It's weird because some of the carrots are fine, on occasion only half of the carrot stick tastes weird.

LOL you dont have to worry about me taking them because i dont eat seafood lol. Might be kind of wierd since i live in a city known for its blue crabs and crab cakes lol.
